What is Touch DIM?
Touch DIM provides the opportunity to control lighting easily without any additional control device. Since it is not necessary doing additional wiring, it is the perfect upgrade solution for already existing installations. A 3-pin calbe connected to the electrical ballast (ECG) is sufficient. Touch DIM does not form part of the DALI Standard. It is an additional function and is therefore implemented as such in the following OSRAM control devices:
- OSRAM OTi DALI 75/200-240/24 1-4 CH
- OSRAM OTi DALI DIM CV Dimmer
Touch DIM enables the control via push buttons (instead of switches). Optionally, Touch DIM can be upgraded using sensors (light, presence or a combination of both) and a radio remote control system/radio switch system. Thanks to the EnOcean technology, batteries for the switch or the remote control are not required!
Warning !!!
Never use Touch DIM together with a DALI control system. The following applies: use either DALI or Touch DIM.
Wiring
Doing the wiring for Touch DIM is very easy. Simply connect one of the DALI clips and the neutral conductor with the ECG. Additionally, connect the phase wire via the push button with the second DALI clip. As a result, to operate the ECG only a 3-pin wire is required: phase, neutral and switched phase (push button).
Using a push button, up to 20 DALI-LED ECGs (exception: OTi DALI 75: 6pcs only) can be controled. Nonetheless, since the total wire length may not exceed 25m (total of all wires push button - ECG), the number of control points is limited.
Only use push buttons without control lamp which possesses an n.o. contact of 230V. Otherwise, the permanent current that flows through the glow lamp may lead to malfunction.
Operating Touch DIM
- Switch lamp on/off: short press (<0,5s)
- Dimming: long press (>0,5s), (dimming direction changes with each press)
- Saving switch-on value: "Double click" (short press 2x within 0,4s)
Sensors
The TOUCH DIM LS LI sensor measures the measures the brightness in the area to be regulated and keeps this to an adjustable set value by introducing artificial light according to the amount of daylight available. As the amount of daylight increases, artificial lighting is reduced.
The TOUCH DIM LS/PD LI sensor measures the measures the brightness in the area to be regulated and keeps this to an adjustable set value by introducing artificial light according to the amount of daylight available. Furthermore, the sensor recognises the motion of individuals. As the amount of daylight increases, artificial lighting is reduced. If there is no motion anymore, the sensor switches the light of after a delay time of 15 minutes.
Remote operation via wall-mounted radio-controlled switch or handheld transmitters
The TOUCH DIM RC Radio Control Receiver enables a wireless control of two light groups for each using up to 15 TouchDIM® ECGs. The radio-controlled receiver converts the radio signals of wall-mounted TOUCH DIM WCU trasnmitters or TOUCH DIM RMC handheld transmitters into TOUCH DIM signals and transmits them to the connected electrical ballasts. Thanks to the EnOcean technology, batteries for the switch or the remote control are not required!
Synchronising
Due to physical reasons, an installation operating on Touch DIM can be out of sync, showing a discrepancy between switching status and dimming level of the luminaires.
Synchronising a Touch DIM installation:
1. step: Long press (> 0,5s): all luminaries are switched on
2. step: Short press (< 0,5s): all luminaries are switched off
3. step: Long press (> 0,5s): all luminaries are switched on and start dimming
4. step: Double click: save switch-on value (OPTIONAL)
